Our full day tour on Saturday will include an overview of Harriet Tubman’s early life, a visit the wharf where slave ships once docked, the courthouse where Harriet engineered her first escape, The Tubman Visitor Center, and the general store where Harriet displayed her first act of defiance—and nearly lost her life. After our morning tour we will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant (included) before continuing our exploration with a visit to the farmstead where abolitionists hid Harriet on her own journey to freedom, the old mill where enslaved and free blacks shared information and the farmstead where Harriet lived and worked before her own escape.

Enjoy complimentary breakfast at your hotel before checking out and embarking on our mid-morning tour of "The Hill" in Easton, MD. The Hill is the oldest, continuously-inhabited black community in the country. Free people of color thrived here for over 70 years before slavery was abolished in Maryland. Today’s tour also includes a visit to the courthouse jail where Douglass was jailed as a child for attempting to escape from slavery and the Brick Hotel where Douglass delivered a rousing speech in 1878 during his return to Talbot county in a quest to find his old home, a visit to the statue bearing his name, the Bethel AME and Asbury Methodist church which he founded, and the African American School. After our 2.5 hour tour we will independently explore the charming town of St. Michaels before returning to Upper Marlboro, MD with a meal stop (at your own expense) along the way
